On the morning of June 1st, fire and EMS crews were dispatched to the area of Brodhead Road and Opus Way for a motor vehicle accident with injuries. Callers reported one car versus a tractor trailer. 1451 (Chief Bachemin) was the first to arrive on scene and established command. 1451 reported one female and one pediatric patient entrapped. The SUV struck the driver side of the trailer near the rear axle. Engine 1411 was the first piece of apparatus to arrive on scene and immediately began rescue operations. The vehicle was cribbed, a hose line was stretched and patient extrication began. 1454 (Captain Austin) and Firefighter Foerst removed the driver's door with the use of 1411's Holmatro Combi tool. Firefighter Rampulla stabilized the vehicle while Firefighter Whirl assisted EMS with patient care. While waiting for the tow company to arrive, crews began the clean up and were later released by 1451.
